Supporting Hmong Refugee Awareness

The Open Gate Initiative is a student campaign petitioning for non-partisan international organizations to have free and unrestricted access to the 5,000 Hmong repatriated to Laos.

The repatriated Hmong have the right to be screened for political refugee status and to determine legitimate requests for asylum.

Asylum seekers have the right to be resettled in third countries ready and willing to accept them.

The Open Gate Initiative is a state-wide collaboration with University of Wisconsin colleges.

Gates will be created by each college institution to symbolize the oppression of the Hmong in Laos and the concern of their relatives here in America.

Gates will be signed by concerned citizens to demonstrate support for the Hmong in Laos and will be turned in to the offices of each Representative and Senator.
